Sporin
Snjórinn fellur blíðlega til jarðar,
Felur spor mín.
Felur þau hljóðlega
felur sporin mín.
Felur þau hljóðlega
Vindurinn þyrlar snjónum yfir fjöllin,
þekur sporin
Hann þekur þau mjúklega,
þekur sporin
Þekur þau mjúklega

Footprints
The snow falls gently to the ground.
Hiding my footprints.
Covering them gently.
Hiding my footprints.
Covering them gently.
The wind swirls the snow over the mountains,
erasing footprints.
He covers them gently.
Covers the footprints gently

Á Engjum
Áfram, áfram,
fram hjá bæjum
frosnum lækjum.
Greiðfær heiðin,
Höldum áfram.
Greikkum nú sporið, áfram áfram höldum
Heima bíður hlýja, bros og alsælu hjúpur.
Frostkalt loftið,
Nístir beinin.
Hrím á engjum,
Höldum áfram
Greiðfær leiðin.

End of the journey
Onwards, onwards,
passing the farms and frozen brooks.
The mountain pass is navigable.
Lets move on.
Lets walk faster and continue onwards
Our home will greet us with warmth, smile and eternal bliss.
The frozen air penetrates our bones.
The meadows are hoar-frozen.
Let’s continue along our passable route.

Vetur
Þegar slokknaði á morgunstjörnunni
varð máninn kyrr.
Sólin veifaði
skýjaslæðu
til hans
yfir fjallið
sem gleymdi að taka ofan
nátthúfuna
Fíngerðan rósavef
óf á rúðuna
frostið

Winter
When the morning star disappeared the moon came to a standstill.
The sun dispersed a veil of clouds to him over the mountain, which forgot to remove its night cap.
The frost wove a fine web over the window pane.

Þú
Bíð eftir því,
að komir þú til mín
Þú ert vindur,
vanga minn strýkur.
Umvefur sál mína
hlýjum blæ.
Þú ert máninn,
lýsir upp augu mín
Umfaðmar sál mína
með glitrandi dögg.
Þú ert vetur,
falinn í huga mér.
Umleikur sál mína
mjallhvítum snæ.

You
I am waiting for you to come to me.
You are the wind which strokes my cheeks
and embraces my soul with a warm breeze.
You are the moon, which lightens my eyes
and embraces my soul with dazzling dew.
You are the winter, which hides in my mind.
Engulfing my soul with pure white snow.

Einsteinungur
Ég geng inní dimman hellinn,
sé ekki handa minna skil,
fálma áfram, áfram,
alein í þykku myrkri
Framundan sé ég geisla sólar,
streyma niður um göt,
líkt og stjörnur á himni,
Agndofa fegurð
Heiða Árnadóttir
Monolithic rock
I walk into a dark cave and see practically nothing.
I fumble onwards alone in the thick darkness.
In the far distance I see the rays of the sun flow
down through holes in the ceiling.
Just like stars in the sky.
Startling beauty.

Komið og farið
Kyrrðin, eins og hún var
kyrrðin, eins og á fjöllunum
hingað leitar hún enn
meðan öll borgin sefur
Litla stund
eftir að ljósin slokkna
áður en sólin rís
seytlar hún fram, streymir
litla stund
eins og lind upp úr jörðinni.
Svo hverfur hún aftur hægt
og hægt, þornar
í götur og torg þegar dyr
og gluggar húsanna vakna.
Hannes Pétursson
Come and go
The Calmness, as it used to be.
The Calmness, as in the mountains.
It still embraces us while the city sleeps.
For a short moment,
after the lights are turned out,
and before the sun rises.
It wells forth and flows for a while
just like a ground water well.
Then it disappears slowly and dries up
in the city streets and squares,
as the doors and windows of the houses wake up.

Marbendill
Staldra ég hér við
hlusta á öldunið
Teigja þær sig til mín
Dansandi trilltan dans
Við Háhyrning og sel
En marbendill situr og hlær
Staldra ég hér við
hlusta á sjávarnið
Súlur sér steypa í sæ
Dansandi öldu dans
við flögrandi Silfurmáf og Skúm
En Marbendill hlær,
Heiða Árnadóttir og Árni Ísaksson
Sea-creature
I stop briefly to listen to the song of the waves.
The try to reach me dancing their exotic dance
with killer whales and seals.
But the sea creature sits by and laughs.
I stop briefly to listen to the song of the sea.
Gannets dive from great hights into the sea,
dancing their wiggly dance with herring Gulls and the great Skua.
But the sea creature watches and laughs.

Tungustapi
Er fagra fjallið ég leit,
frægt í sögu ýta.
Eitt það sat í Sælingssveit,
Svo undurfrítt að líta.
Álfaborg er undrahöll,
erfitt henni að lýsa.
Þar heyrast stundum hlátrasköll,
og háar raddir dísa.
Þá sögu vil ég segja þér,
um svein sem álfa hitti.
Hann kirkju sótti í hvolnum hér,
en hvatlega vit hann missti.
Hylli álfa hverful er,
kann ei lukku að stýra.
Að sækja kirkju í hvolnum hér,
og selja sálu dýra.
Árni Isaksson
The Elf church
When I laid my eyes on the beautiful mountain,
which is linked to famous folklore, it looked so pretty
sitting in the middle of the “Sælings” valley.
This Elf church is a magic palace, which is difficult to describe.
But there you can sometimes hear mysterious laughter and high pitch female voices .
I want to tell you a story about a man who met the elfs,
frequented their mountain church and subsequently became insane.
It shows that the friendship with elfs is unstable and you will have to pay a high price for frequenting their church and thereby selling your human soul.
